Week 23 of 26......Still No Progress

I can't believe that it's been 23 weeks since I lost my job.  I thought by now I would be comfortably settled into a new job with new work friends and responsibilities.  Unfortunately things just didn't work out the way that I would have thought. 100's of applications sent out and resumes mailed and I still am back to square one.

I have had a few bright spots in the road during this time.  I did receive 2 job offers that would have probably been great places to work.  Unfortunately my mortgage, student loans, and bills dictate what I can make and neither could get my through.  So back to the drawing board.  I also had a great casino lead that would have been a perfect fit me me.  Again it didn't pan out the way that I had hoped.

In the meantime I am hoping that with the recent economic crises the US is going through, I will not be unemployed forever. Although after 23 weeks my hopes are a little dim.

  2. Perhaps you should broaden your scope of career choices and set aside your current career. In the meantime, please don't fret...the government will take care of your needs. Food stamps, Unemployment, health care, etc. It's rather addicting to live of of other peoples money.

    1. How are you just living off of other people's money, if you worked majority of your life and put into the system as well Alfred??? I get offended at these types of comments. The money should be there for when you need it if you help support the system too...Get your facts straight don't be insensitive!

  3. Don't you fret Alfred, I do receive a very small unemployment check (of course I do have a part time job and any hours that I work there are subtracted from what my unemployment rate is). I also have zero health care and rely on coupons and specials to purchase my groceries- with my own money. I pay my mortgage, student loans, utilities, and any credit card debt as well. Bankruptcy and forclosure are not options for me. As for career choices, I am open to anything that will pay more than minimum wage. With this economy employers have the upper hand and can pay you what they want. For me to stay off that path of bankruptcy I need to make enough to be self sufficient. I don't think that is asking too much do you?

  4. Thank you Vanessa for your support. When I wrote this blog Alfred always had to add his 2 cents. Since writing this I did land a full time job that I have been at for almost 2 years. Not once did I get any handouts other than my unemployment check. Anyone that has been in this situation can understand the toll that it can take on a person both financially and emotionally. Again that you:)
